Leaving an organization or experiencing changes in licensing access can impact your Adobe Portfolio. This guide will help you understand what happens to your Portfolio under different scenarios and how you can retain access or migrate it.
When you leave an organization or face changes in your access to Portfolio due to licensing changes, Adobe Portfolio takes certain actions:
- Email Notification: You will receive an email notification informing you that there is no longer an active payment method associated with your account.
- Portfolio Site Availability: Your Portfolio site(s) will remain live for a period of two weeks, after which they will become inaccessible.
- Account / Site Deletion: If your administrator removes / deletes your account, then all Portfolio sites associated with the account will be deleted as well. This cannot be reversed.

How to Preserve Your Portfolio
The steps to retain your Adobe Portfolio depend on the type of Adobe account associated with it. Here are the options:
1. Enterprise/Federated (Company) Account
If your Portfolio was created under an Enterprise or Federated ID:
- Migration: Unfortunately, it is not possible to migrate or export your Portfolio to another account.
- Regaining Access: To regain access to your Portfolio account, you will need to contact your organization's administrator.
- Note: Even after regaining access, Portfolio sites cannot be migrated to another account. More information on this can be found here.
2. Student with an EDU License
If you are a student with an EDU license:
-
Migration: For guidance on migrating your Portfolio from a School (EDU) account to a Personal account, please refer to: Migrate a School (EDU) account to a Personal account
- Regaining Access: To regain access to a closed account, please contact your administrator.
3. Business ID (Entitlement Only Account)
If your Portfolio was created on a Business ID (entitlement account):
- Migration (With Login Access): If you still have login access to your account, you can migrate your Portfolio by following the steps outlined here.
-
Closed Account (Entitlement Removed): If you can no longer log in because the account has been closed (entitlement was removed), we (Adobe Portfolio) will automatically transfer your Portfolio to its authenticating account.
Note: - If the authenticating account is a Personal Adobe ID, you can migrate your Portfolio to a different Personal Adobe ID (learn more here).
- If the authenticating is an Enterprise/Federated ID, we're sorry to say that it cannot be migrated to another Personal Adobe ID. If you need to migrate the Portfolio to another user within the same organization, please contact Adobe Portfolio support.
⚠️ Remember that the availability of migration options may vary depending on your specific circumstances. For a full overview of Adobe account types and profiles, please refer to the Understanding Account Types and Profiles
