There are three primary kinds of Adobe accounts used to log into Adobe Services including Portfolio:
-
Adobe ID
Adobe IDs are individual accounts. Users manage their own login credentials through account.adobe.com. Personal accounts are created by the end-user and can be used with a personal or company email. -
Enterprise / Federated IDs
Enterprise and Federated IDs are managed accounts. This means that the admin controls the login credentials and group memberships through a User Directory in the Admin Console. Enterprise and Federated IDs are controlled by an organization (School or Company) and are always associated with a school or company email address. -
Business ID / Entitlement account
If you receive an Adobe Business plan from an organization such as a business, government entity, or educational institution, then the Adobe Profile associated with that plan is a Business Profile. These types of accounts are always linked to either a Personal Adobe ID or Enterprise / Federated ID. They share the same email & password as the linked/authenticating account. The Entitlement or Profile itself grants you access to certain products and services but it is still considered a separate account, meaning you can create a Portfolio account under the Personal Profile and a new one under the Business Profile. When the entitlement is removed – you can no longer log into the Business Profile / account.
