There are three primary types of Adobe accounts used to access Adobe services, including Adobe Portfolio.
Adobe ID
An Adobe ID is an individual account managed directly by the user. Login credentials, security settings, and account details are controlled through account.adobe.com.
Adobe IDs can be created using either a personal or company email address and are typically used for personal subscriptions and services.
Enterprise ID / Federated ID
Enterprise IDs and Federated IDs are organization-managed accounts. These accounts are controlled by a company, school, or other institution through the Adobe Admin Console.
With these account types:
- Login credentials and group memberships are managed by the organization
- Access permissions are assigned through the organization’s User Directory
- Accounts are always associated with a school or company email address
Because these accounts are organization-controlled, access may change if your administrator updates your permissions or removes your account.
Business Profile / Entitlement Account
If you receive an Adobe business plan through an organization, such as a company, government agency, or educational institution, the associated Adobe profile is considered a Business Profile.
Business Profiles are linked to an existing Adobe account, either:
- A Personal Adobe ID
- An Enterprise ID
- A Federated ID
The Business Profile uses the same email address and password as the linked account. However, the profile itself is considered a separate environment with its own access permissions and services.
For example, you can create one Adobe Portfolio site under your Personal Profile and another under your Business Profile.
If the organization removes your entitlement or access, you will no longer be able to sign in to that Business Profile or use the services associated with it.
