If you already own a domain, you can use it with Portfolio. You do this by pointing the domain at your site - not by transferring ownership of the domain to Adobe.
Adobe is not a domain registrar
Portfolio connects domains; it does not register, host, or manage them. Your domain stays registered with the company you bought it from, you keep paying and renewing it there, and you keep full control of it.
Because Adobe is not your registrar, Adobe cannot unlock your domain, cannot provide an authorization or EPP code, and cannot transfer it to another company. Those come from the registrar you bought the domain from. If you are not sure who that is, a public WHOIS lookup for your domain will show it.
How to use a domain you already own
- Leave the domain registered where it is.
- In Portfolio, open Settings > Domain and enter your domain.
- Note the two IP addresses shown for your site.
- At your registrar, create four A records: two on your domain and two on its
wwwversion, each pair pointing to both IP addresses. - Allow up to 48 hours for DNS to update, though it is usually much sooner.
- Return to Portfolio and click Apply.
For details on each record type, see DNS records explained.
Domains bought through Portfolio
If you bought your domain through Adobe Portfolio, it is registered and fulfilled by Namecheap. Renewal and billing notices for it come from Namecheap rather than Adobe.
To renew the domain, change its settings, or transfer it to another registrar, contact Namecheap support directly. Adobe cannot make these changes for you.
