Image Renditions
When you upload an image to Adobe Portfolio, it is stored at its full original resolution.
To ensure optimal display and performance, Adobe Portfolio automatically generates multiple renditions (versions) of your image at different widths.
How Image Sizing Works
Each rendition is created at a different width.
The height scales proportionally to preserve the original aspect ratio.
The appropriate image size is automatically selected based on your visitor’s screen size and device resolution.
The largest rendition generated is 3840px wide, which supports:
Retina displays on 1920px-wide screens (2× resolution)
4K displays
This ensures sharp image quality while helping reduce unnecessary file loading on smaller devices.
Why Your Image May Appear Larger or Smaller
The final display size of your image depends on your site’s layout settings, including:
Website Container width
Page Container width
Max Image Width settings (if applied within customizations)
These settings determine how much space your image can occupy on the page.
Note: If you want images to stretch edge-to-edge (full bleed):
Make sure no max-width is applied to:
Page Containers
Image Modules
A max-width setting will prevent full-bleed behavior.
Accepted File Formats
We support:
JPEG (.jpg) – Recommended for photographs
PNG (.png) – For graphics or transparency
GIF (.gif) – For simple animations
Note: PDF files are not supported.
Best Practices
Optimizing your images ensures high visual quality without slowing down your site.
Color Mode
Save images in RGB (sRGB) for accurate web display.
Exporting
Use Save for Web (or optimized export settings).
Choose appropriate compression.
Remove unnecessary metadata when possible.
File Size
Images can be up to 50MB, but we recommend keeping them 20MB or smaller. For best performance:
Full-width images: 500KB–2MB
Standard images: 300KB–1MB
Thumbnails/small images: under 500KB
Cover images: under 1MB
Smaller files improve loading speed and mobile performance.
Dimensions
Upload images at the size of the container they fill.
For Retina displays, upload at no more than 2× the container width.
Avoid uploading images significantly larger than their display size.
