While you can't have a subfolder while using a custom domain on Portfolio (like mydomain.com/files), you can utilize a subdomain (like files.mydomain.com) instead by adjusting your DNS settings. Setting up a subdomain is similar to setting up a root domain but varies by domain provider.
Note: you do not need to change nameservers. Please keep those pointing to your default nameservers. You only need access to your DNS settings.

Steps for setting up custom domain
1. You will need to locate the IP addresses you need to remap your domain name:
- Go to Settings in the left-hand panel
- Click Domain Name
- Click Connect your Domain Name
- Copy the two provided IP addresses
2. Change your DNS Settings
- Log into your domain provider's portal
- Go to DNS settings
- Add the following four (4) A Records
Record Type |
Host/Name |
Value |
A |
subdomain |
IP address 1 |
A |
www.subdomain |
IP address 1 |
A |
subdomain |
IP address 2 |
A |
www.subdomain |
IP address 2 |
3. Connect Domain Name by entering the domain name and hitting 'Apply'
Note:
- Remove any A Records/CNAMES that are not pointing to your provided IP addresses
- Remove all CAA Records
- It usually takes about 24/48 hours for everything to transfer over once the DNS settings are changed and the mapping is complete.
- DO NOT remove & re-enter your custom domain name within Adobe Portfolio Settings more than five times. This will cause a delay in generating a SSL Certificate and will prevent you from re-adding your custom domain for one week.
